I am in such a great mood today. I was so worried about the CEO of Cigna recently but thank goodness the company saw fit to take care of him. I was having night sweats thinkging that he would be left with only a few million in his pocket. Luckily, H. Edward Hanway was given a pension payout of $73.2 million according to proxies filed with the SEC through April 19th. When I got wind of the news it was like a breath of fresh air. I have a giddy-up in my step. Sure, I have tons of patients who can't afford the skyrocketing insurance payments of Cigna but so what? Mr. Hanway is now well taken care of and that is all that matters. I mean what can $73.2 million really do to bring the cost of care? Well maybe 7000 families (of four) would have free care but that shouldn't make Cigna feel guilty. They have a business to run.

You know, a recent story in the Cincinnati Enquirer mused on the mess that is "healthcare"... I went ballistic and swamped the writer and editor with letters. Healthcare isn't a mess. The suits who've taken over healthcare are the mess. And I give you Exhibit A: H. Edward Hanway.
Don't you just feel so incredibly helpless? I do...
It goes on over and over and over. And we can only sit and complain...
I am beginning to think that until there is a violent revolution a la France in the 1700s, nothing, but nothing, will ever change...
