There is a story being sent around the internet about a person passing themselves off as a primary care physician. In
this article accompanied by a video on YouTube, someone by the name of Roxana Mayer states she is a general practitioner to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) and gets a big round of applause. Then she gives a softball question to the congresswoman and Lee never really explains a workable way to increase the number of primary care doctors in the country. When googling Lee and Mayer, I couldn't find a mainstream paper that mentions this controversy. The conservatives are all over it and rightfully so if this person was truly planted there by Lee. There is no place for dishonesty in these discussions. That being said, it isn't what bothers me the most. Do you remember when Seinfeld's dentist converted to Judaism? He went to complain to the dentist's priest about it in a confessional booth. Seinfeld states that he believes he converted just for the jokes. The priest responds, "And that offends you as a Jew?" Seinfeld responds, "No, it offends me as a comedian". It may be my favorite line of that whole series. Anyway, the same thing applies for Roxana Mayer. It offends me as a doctor because unless you have been through the crap that I have been through with the years of schooling, training, and being in the trenches then DON'T pretend you are one of us! Unless you have some good medical jokes. Then send them my way.
