Myths In Other Countries

The United States may have its healthcare reform "myths" but here is what the UK is dealing with. A survey of 1,000 women aged 18 to 50 and was carried out by market research company Opinion Health and found that the following are just some of the contraception myths which are still widespread:


  • Chicken skin and cling film as barrier methods

  • Kebabs, crisps and chocolate as oral contraceptives

  • The pill as protection against HIV

Dr Annie Evans, Women's Health Specialist at the Bristol Sexual Health Centre, said: "It is not surprising, given that Britain continues to have the highest unintended pregnancy rate in Europe."

I can just see some guy getting up in the middle of the night over there and going to the kitchen with his eyes still half closed. He starts to nibble on something and then says, "Honey, what was this rubbery thing I just ate? It was rolled up in the cling wrap.
