Prompted by the new guideline recommendations to delay mammograms to age 50, Democrats Senator Barbara A. Mikulski of Maryland is trying to amend the bill so it would require insurers to cover more screenings and preventive care for women, with no co-payments. Not to be outdone, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid chimed in to support her saying: “The decision whether or when to get a mammogram should be left up to the patient and the doctor. That decision should not be made by some bureaucrat, a member of Congress or someone they’ve never met.” This is insanity. Can you play to the media and the populace some more? They are basing an amendment and huge chunk a money to add onto this already bloated bill because the mammogram guidelines, though scientifically correct, were not popular. This is embarrassing.
