I am out of the loop. Here is a quick little piece describing how Botox is really the new cosmetic procedure for the younger population - even teens! Want numbers?
- In 2009, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported 12,110 Botox or Dysport procedures performed on patients 18 and under.
- The the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found 11,889 cosmetic Botox/Dysport procedures were performed on patients age 13 to 19 (an increase of 2 percent from 2008).
I am just a plain old family doc who feels guilty for charging for cerumen removal so forgive me for asking this question: Shouldn't plastic surgeons say no to doing this procedure in this age group? I am being serious. Aren't there some ethical concerns here?
