Injustice

Worker's comp is an important provision for our country when someone is really hurt on the job there. As physicians, however, we do see a lot of abuse of this and that is what sours a lot of people on the concept. Well, here's another one. Matt Mitchell, a former Illinois state trooper who killed two sisters after plowing into their car at 126 mph is seeking workers' compensation for injuries he suffered in the crash. Why did he plow into these kids? He was busy sending e-mails and talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone in 2007 when he lost control of his patrol going to an emergency! What did he get for his crime? He was on paid leave for two years until he resigned from the force after pleading guilty in criminal court. He never once said he was sorry and now will probably get his worker's comp claim accepted. Unbelievable.
