I realize that doctors don't agree on how to fix the healthcare financial mess any more than Congresspersons do. But at the very least can't we try not to be part of the problem? Or at least try to inform ourselves about the financial burden we impose on our patients? It takes about 5 minutes to download the nearest discount store's "$4 list" and stick a copy in our pocket...and no time at all to realize that the newest drug for something is going to be the most expensive.
We may not be to blame for all those articles about hospitalizations caused by people not taking their meds, but we can at least learn how to improve our patients' odds of staying home.
