The mission of this blog is to connect us back to the roots of medicine. It is about fighting back against those things that are taking us away from the direct care of patients while still pointing out the lunacy and hypocrisy of this job.

EMR Access by Stella Fitzgibbons MD
Apparently efforts are underway in Florida to make electronic medical records accessible to doctors at hospitals. I don't know how comprehensive this will be, but imagine the effects on substance abusers. If it works the way some of us have dreamed that it might, Florida could wind up seeing a lot of them leave the state for places where their lies won't get spotted immediately, and some of their script-selling "doctor" friends doing likewise. And then maybe some other states would jump on the bandwagon...awesome concept.
