It turns out that men who have sex with animals (SWA) are at risk for penile cancer. Boy, I am sure glad this is being studied. Do the researchers think that those people who engage in this type of activity are now going to think to themselves, "Well, I would like to have sex with that goat and I can get past the social stigma and grossness of the whole concept but, heck, I sure don't want to get penile cancer. I'll just stop". I don't think so.

OH. MY. LORD!!!!! This is disturbing on so many levels! Number one...who thought this study up?? and two...please tell me my tax money is not being spent on this.
I followed a link on Facebook here, so I admit I am a stranger. I *read* the study, and think it actually has some relevance to people who *don't* boink animals, too.
What it really states is that those who engage in sexual or pseudosexual (like BDSM) activities in which the penis' skin is compromised repeatedly, possibly combined with unprotected sex, can lead to penile cancer. This can include much less controversial types of sex, such as anal sex.
Once again, the Authentic Medicine Blog is the cutting, uh, edge, for our industry! And do they still make condoms out of lambskin?
This is such a baaaaaaaa-d study in so many ways.
This is funny. My spouse just read this tonight and not 3 minutes later we see Jay Leno read it during his monologue (that SWA causes penile cancer) followed by him exclaiming "Good! Serves you right you sick bastards!".
I just am wondering how this makes a difference. I never ask and have never been encouraged to ask my patients if they have SWA. Nor does anyone volunteer this info. Are new recs coming down the pipeline for us to add this to the 5001 things we screen for in the less than 15 min we have? "Ok, Mr. Jones, I see you screen positive for SWA, so whip 'em out and let's have looksee."
Never in his wildest dreams did Darwin ever consider this scenario....
agree with Leno, serves those sick bastards right. more evidence that Darwin was right all along...
Does this mean that the price of lamb will be coming down...?
