Who To Cover?

Now that the World Trade Center Health Act is passed the question becomes who to cover? Sounds simple but it really isn't. As discussed in this article, everyone there seems to have gotten sick but was it from the disaster and dust or because everyone has the potential to get ill? It's called life. The new law only covers illnesses backed by some research and include "asthma, certain types of lung disease and a handful of other respiratory ailments". Two men highlighted in the article each has something different. One has IgA nephropathy (kidney disease) and the other has acute myelogenous leukemia (cancer). They want compensation, too. They already have medical coverage so that isn't the issue. I have blogged before how I think this law is a good thing and needed to be done. Now, however, is where it gets sticky. Luckily, we have lawyers all ready to make it even stickier.
