In another ridiculous study, this one in the February issue of Otolaryngology — Head and Neck Surgery, the authors think they have found a link between kids who have had their tonsils removed and weight gain. C'mon, now this is getting out of hand. Really? The media loves this stuff and so they are running with it but the study is not an absolute but rather an "association" between the two. There is no real proof or cause and effect going on here.
If the media is that desperate for a story then I got one for them. There IS an absolute link between the number of tonsillectomies performed over the last half of the century and the size of the bank accounts of ENTs. Now go ahead and run with that. No, don't thank me. It's what I do. I give and give until it hurts.
