Drunk Diet

Lady Gaga is in the news for a few of her comments, which came off quite controversial....again. She said her new perfume smells like “an expensive hooker!” and that she created the scent by trying to “extract the feeling and the sense of blood and semen from molecular structures.” Now that sounds delightful. She is also telling the world that she is using her boyfriend’s weight loss plan to keep thin. It is called the "drunk diet." Supposedly her boy friend, rocker Luc Carl, lost 40 pounds while still partying hard and drinking even harder. Good thing because he is soon to have a diet book coming out with the same name. Here is a quote from his website:

Lüc Carl helped me lose 10 lbs. and drop my cholesterol level 15 points in just a couple of months. All while remaining the boozed up DJ that I am.

Nice. I am not really sure what legitimizes celebrities to endorse anything. I’ll leave the perfume alone because, well, the concept of making a scent from semen and blood is just gross. But how about diets? Whether it be Mariah Carey eating the purple food diet, Jennifer Aniston using the baby food diet, or Britney Spears using a healthy combination of Adderall and laxatives, it just makes no sense to use celebrities as our advisers in these areas. Even "Dr. Phil" McGraw had his Shape Up! diet plan until he was sued and agreed to a $10.5 million settlement.
So why does this happen? The truth is that the public rarely listens to their doctors about diets anymore. The celebrity endorsed plans are easier to sell because celebrities are prettier than us (except Dr. Phil). Quick fixes, like using whiskey, are what people want. So long live Lady Gaga who will drink, stay thin and smell like semen and blood. Stay classy, San Diego.
