If Only We Had Unlimited Resources

In a Reuter's article about benefits and cost of prostate cancer treatments there was a great line by one of the radiation oncologists at Wayne State Medical School. He said, "We don't have unlimited dollars or resources to pay for expensive treatments that may have a marginal benefit". No truer line may have ever been told and it probably summarizes most of the prostate cancer treatments some docs are promoting. I will let you read the article and decide. The same guy said that "technology is being adopted in hospitals and doctors' offices faster than researchers can track whether the advantages balance the additional costs." This would not happen, by the way, if patients had to pay for some of these costs themselves.
