A new study states that 25% of the adults claiming to have ADD are faking it to get the medication. And you wonder why being a physician is so tough nowadays. Take a look at the link and you will find this whole phenomenon really interesting. Some people just want the stimulants for whatever reason (helps them study, helps them get high, helps then lose weight, helps them make money by selling the pills, etc.). Maybe the government will see this study and have every physician retrain in order to do a better job in prescribing these restrictive meds? It is obviously our fault. Maybe the AAFP or the ACP can create a new CME course in order to capitalize on their doctors' deteriorating skills in picking up on the fakers of adult ADD? You heard it here first.
