Goodbye Dr. Death

Jack Kevorkian is dead. What an interesting man and physician. He was a lightening rod for attention and he brought it upon himself. He truly believed in death with dignity and thought that people have the right to be part of that action. Physician-assisted suicide is really a terrible term. It leaves open a controversial debate that I really don't want to get into here. I am not sure I believe in Jack's philosophies but I respected his passion. This was and always will be a tough subject to talk about. We are just not comfortable with death. That being said, if you don't think the medical community facilitates death during palliative care measures (using morphine) then you are extremely naive. I don't think Dr. Kevorkian was a bad guy by any means. He was brilliant and very well spoken. He could debate anyone and was never shaken. I think he did a lot of good pushing the ball forward on this very controversial issue.
