It looks like the family really wasn't after Hiatt and no one really knows if the overdose was the cause of the baby's health unraveling. It was the administrators in their glorious wisdom who escorted Hiatt out of the building and then decided to fire her. As you know, administrators never make mistakes so they couldn't tolerate Hiatt making one. This job is tough enough for nurses and doctors without the unrealistic pressures of the idiots above trying to make a name for themselves. We are human. We can screw up. The toll is not only horrible for the patient but for the caretakers as well.
Please read the whole article and you will see that this was really a witch hunt to get rid of Hiatt either to prove to the media that that hospital was doing things to prove they are safe or because she was a lesbian and others had issues with her. The bottom line is that no medical worker's job is safe if he or she makes any mistakes. And that may be the saddest part of the story.
