The mission of this blog is to connect us back to the roots of medicine. It is about fighting back against those things that are taking us away from the direct care of patients while still pointing out the lunacy and hypocrisy of this job.

More Fudging
Remember when I mentioned the high "erasure rate" in Washington DC? Well, it seems that the teachers in Atlanta have been doing the same thing. Dozens of teachers and principles have been caught changing kids' tests scores. In fact, teachers there call it an "open secret" and they even had changing parties at teachers' houses after the test. Wow. What does this have to do with healthcare? This whole situation of teaching to the test was brought on because teachers are being paid by how well their kids do on those tests. This is how quality teaching is defined in the education world. Doctors and hospitals will also be graded on how well their patients do on their diabetes, blood pressure and cholesterol scores. They will be paid accordingly. Since it is ludicrous to be responsible for what patients do at home then there will be tremendous pressure to fire bad patients or change their scores somehow. Mark my words, there will be many examples of doctors and hospitals being so fed up with ridiculous mandates that they too will end finding a way to cheat. And we will read about them in the USA Today in a few years.
