The mission of this blog is to connect us back to the roots of medicine. It is about fighting back against those things that are taking us away from the direct care of patients while still pointing out the lunacy and hypocrisy of this job.

Beware the Home Lunch
In another study sure to cause panic, researchers say that kids who bring a home lunch to school may eat food that is at an unsafe temperature. More than 90% of perishable items did not meet USDA guidelines in that study. That's even with using ice packs! They quote the author who now thinks he understands why his own kid may have a stomach ache when he comes home from school. Maybe it was from his food? Bullsh&t. This study, coming out in the journal Pedatrics, fails to show that kids are now or have EVER been sick from eating food that has sat out at room temperature. Here is a little secret, kids have been brown bagging it for 50 plus years and there has been little or no evidence of any poor outcomes. In fact, adults still do it today just like when they were kids. This is just another study that has no real conclusion but it doesn't matter. You will see it go around the media very soon and it will scare a lot of parents. You heard it here first. Now ignore it.
