The AMA Pile On

Okay, I know that Pat ripped on the AMA and their president recently but I just couldn't let this go.  Here is the article on the introducing the esteemed Dr. Carmel as the president of the AMA from the American Medical News.   Let's summarize:


1. Came from a family of doctors
2. Multiple marriages (though not detailed in the piece)
3. Young wife (looks thirty to forty years younger) who is also a specialist
4. Highly specialized pediatric neurosurgeon
5. Works in academics (does he see patients?)
6. Lives in Manhattan (don't you?) in a spacious sun-filled home overlooking the treetops of Central Park
7. Owns a stone farmhouse in Orange, NJ
8. Houses furnished with valuable antiques

I have to laugh a little.  Yes, I am jealous but does Peter Carmel MD really represent the common doctor?  Okay, now I am laughing a lot.
