MSN did a
bogus fluff piece recently on why doctors are late. Another happy horsesh%t piece of journalism without science behind it. The title was a nice kick the groin - Why Doctors Are Always Late. I love the ALWAYS. Here is a little secret - I am hardly ever (I swear) late. That is just the way I am wired. The assumption to the title is that ALL docs are always late. That kind of stuff kills me. To their credit, some of the reasons for the tardiness that they gave are accurate:
- Patients are late (I send them packing if more than 8 min late)
- Patients bring in a list (yup)
- Drugs reps (this one is a crock nowadays)
- Doctors BS too much (really?)
- Red tape (this one is more and more the issue)
- Doctors can't manage their own time (I do know some docs and people who are always late)
- Doctor has a family emergency (a rarity)
- Doctors are giving bad news to other patients (a stretch)
- They have to use the restroom (extremely rare cause)
I am sure you have some more reasons why doctors CAN be late. Send them in here and let's teach MSN how to really get some answers.
