The mission of this blog is to connect us back to the roots of medicine. It is about fighting back against those things that are taking us away from the direct care of patients while still pointing out the lunacy and hypocrisy of this job.

Another Bad Study
You will hear it all over the news today. Pot does not make you gain weight. In fact, I will bet that some media outlets will screw this bad research up even more and say it may help you lose weight. The whole study was a basic survey of 50,000 people who were asked if they did or did not smoke weed. The investigators then looked as their weight and lo and behold, 14% of the pot smokers were obese compared to 22% of the non-smokers. I guess the "munchies" really is not a big deal. Who knows? These kind of studies are flawed anyway because there are so many variables unaccounted for. I am a little biased because the push to make this drug more mainstream keeps getting attention. So here we go again. Could it be that the drug makes you so lazy that you regularly forget to eat and these episodes of "munchies" are just a way for your body to catch up on calories?
