Here is a nice article about how some family doctors around the country are helping the uninsured. These are the real heroes of medicine. Funny, they didn't mention any dermatologists. That's weird. Making $400K a year can be rough. In Maine, there are really no dermatologists who will even take Medicaid patients. We have to wing it. Yet when MelaFind comes out, a new handheld scanner to find melanoma, the dermatologists will be able to bring in another $100K a year extra. Sorry, my bitterness makes me digress. Anyway, back to the article. These uninsured patients may be a way for family docs to finally walk away from the insurance companies and go to cash pay. No billing. No coding. Just good old-fashioned doctoring at reduced rate. This is an example of Authentic Medicine.
